(Apprentice Technicians and company reps)The PTC Learning system establishes a common vocabulary for all members of the Dental team to communicate with. The system concentrates on giving a Dental Technician the foundations to build their technical knowledge, and to improve their skills. For example, for the trainee dental technician, the system aims to identify and explain each anatomical feature of natural teeth systematically.
In order to understand the many subject areas, the PTC system allows the trainee to learn key areas (also known as the subject’s ‘fundamentals’) in a step-by-step process. The trainee, through ‘deliberate practise’ reinforces these fundamentals. This means the trainee must repeat key skills in a certain way to fully understand the process they are undertaking. For example, a trainee is required to add the body (dentine) porcelain in 5 segments per tooth surface in every single crown build up they work on.
The System includes the following modules:
Simplifying Posterior Anatomy
Anterior Anatomy and the Science of a
Natural Smile
Metal Design and Fabrication
Crown and Bridge Anatomical Waxing
Anterior and Posterior Porcelain Application
Contouring Anterior Bridges
Contouring Posterior Bridges
Colour in Dental Ceramics
Creating Natural Dentures
All Technicians at Waters Edge Ceramics are PTC trained for their particular role in appliance fabrication. The team regularly refresh their knowledge of this system by watching the DVD based tutorials and referring to the numerous technical folders provided.
